The student will begin to learn to communicate in French, which will occur through listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Knowledge will concern pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, culture, and Catholicity. Skills will involve conversation, listening and reading comprehension, recitation, and written expression. Authentic materials intended for native French speakers will be the texts for the course. The student will also develop a global competency that fosters cultural sensitivity, tolerance of difference, and comparisons for understanding better the United States. Instruction will occur in French, with an expectation that the student will engage the teacher and classmates in French.
