The student will continue to learn to communicate in French, which will occur through listening, reading, writing, and through speaking. Knowledge will concern pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, culture, and Catholicity. Skills will involve conversation, listening and reading comprehension, recitation, and written expression. Authentic materials--documents, web sites, music, films--intended for native French speakers will be the texts for the course. The course focuses upon food culture in France and description of events in the past. The student will also develop a global competency that fosters cultural sensitivity, tolerance of difference, and comparisons for understanding better the United States. Instruction will occur in French, with an expectation that the student will engage the teacher and classmates in French.
