Through fundraising and advocacy, FIRE lights the way for children with special needs to share in the opportunities that Catholic schools provide. Without funding from FIRE, most students with special learning needs would not be able to attend Catholic schools. By fostering a culture of acceptance and compassion, ALL students benefit from inclusion as they grow together in faith, knowledge and friendship. FIRE’s model of funding and advocacy has become a national model for inclusive Catholic education.
We are grateful to announce the opportunity to raffle off the cash prize of $1996 (the year FIRE was founded) for this year’s FIRE Ball challenge! Ticket sales will end October 31st. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit FIRE’s mission to provide children with special needs the opportunity for an inclusive Catholic education in their home parish schools.
Tickets are $10. The drawing for the $1996 cash prize will be held during the FIRE Ball auction that will be held on Saturday, November 5th.
Please contact Krista Daniels (Inclusive Education Coordinator)
if you are interested in purchasing raffle tickets.

Everything You Need To Know About A Teenager, But Were Afraid To Ask
The teenage brain undergoes the one most dramatic change in any period of human development. The transition from child to adult is the foundation for future adjustments and endeavors in life. The teenage transition years can be challenging for all involved including family, educators and friends. This seminar will discuss what motivates a teenager, why they do the things they do and how we can help guide them to their goals and into adulthood. The content that will be delivered to selected classes at St. Pius X will be presented.

Seasoned SPX Families to help our Newest Family Members Navigate their first SPX Year!
Do you remember the first time you were a St. Pius X family? Did you wish you had another "seasoned" SPX family to call, or it was after office hours and you needed a quick answer? We are looking for families who are willing to be a “Contact Family” to assist new families at St. Pius X. Inaddition, bilingual families would be a great resource and tremendous help. It could be something as simple as trying to find something on the web page, or understanding specific school policies “shorts vs pants rule”, etc. We already have a few families ready to answer questions but If you are willing to be a Contact Family, please email Barbara Blando at email@example.com with your contact information.
New families – are you looking for someone to call for quick answers or assistance, please feel free to email Barbara Blando at firstname.lastname@example.org, and she will put you in contact with someone who can help you.
SPX PARENTS ANNUAL CONCESSION OBLIGATION
St. Pius X requires each family to work one concession shift per school year. Each family is assigned one shift (either on the Fall or Winter schedule) no matter if your student plays a sport or not. Only one parent is required to attend (or another adult in the family, grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc).
Your student is NOT elgible to take your shift.
The Fall schedule is available on the SPX website under the Parent's Association tab.
The Winter Schedule is set in early November.
Please contact Jenny Vutich, Parents Association Concession Scheduler, if you have any questions regarding your concession obligation at 935-6923 or email@example.com
Many times we are in need of photos of students playing sports, participating in extra-curricular activities, service projects or other school activities throughout the school year. Since many parents take photos of their kids at these activities, we often come to you to seek extra photos when we need them for publications. To make this process easier, we have created a photo sharing site: spxkc.smugmug.com
We encourage parents who take photos at games to upload them onto this site for sharing. Please email Melanie at firstname.lastname@example.org to receive an upload link if you are willing to share your photos.
In addition, smugmug allows photo ordering, so any parent can view the site and order photos they may want that others took. Our hope is that this will make photo sharing easy for our community.
